Bridgeport Islanders News Release

BRIDGEPORT, CT - The American Hockey League's Bridgeport Sound Tigers, top affiliate of the National Hockey League's New York Islanders, recorded their second shutout in as many nights blanking the Philadelphia Phantoms 3-0 at home Saturday. Wade Dubielewicz stopped 33 shots for his first shutout of the season, while Robert Nilsson, Rob Collins and Jeff Hamilton scored. Dubielewicz and Chris Madden both made 15 saves on the road Friday to combine for a 4-0 shutout against the Lowell Lock Monsters.

Nilsson got the Sound Tigers on the board 12:02 into the first period on a power-play goal. Jeff Hamilton set the play up from the left circle finding Nilsson with a no-look pass at the back door for an easy tap in goal to give the Sound Tigers the 1-0 lead. Jeremy Colliton also received an assist on the play extending a scoring streak to four games.

With just 10.1 seconds remaining in the opening frame, Collins blasted a low one-timer that found its way past Phantoms goalie Martin Houle to make it 2-0 Sound Tigers. Travis Brigley and David Masse picked up assists on the power-play goal. Masse now has points in three straight games.

The Sound Tigers put the game out of reach on a wild second-period sequence. First, Tomi Pettinen helped the shutout bid by fishing a loose puck off the Sound Tigers goal line to keep Philadelphia scoreless. Then, Paul Flache came out of the penalty box, took a Vince Macri outlet and zipped it up ice to Hamilton who outraced the defense upping the lead to 3-0 at the 4:28 mark of the second period.

During the third period, Dubielewicz shut down the Phantoms, including a save off of his mask during a five-on-three Philadelphia power play. The Sound Tigers killed off that advantage and were 8 for 8 on the penalty kill and 2 for 7 on the power-play. They also won despite being outshot 33-21.

Dubielewicz was the first star with his 11th career shutout as a Sound Tiger, Hamilton was the second and Collins was the third. Houle made 18 saves in a losing effort for the Phantoms.

The Sound Tigers will continue a three-game homestand when they host the Hartford Wolf Pack tomorrow at 4:05 p.m. on "Trivia Night" and "Stratford Town Night" and the Hershey Bears this coming Wednesday, December 7th at 11 a.m. in the third-annual, educationally-themed "Cool Fun 101" morning game.
