DES MOINES, IA - Iowa Stars Director of Hockey Operations Scott White announced today that the Dallas Stars have loaned left wing Mathias Tjarnqvist to the American Hockey League (AHL) club in Iowa.
The 26-year old Tjarnqvist appeared in two games for Iowa this season after being activated off of Dallas' injured reserve list and assigned to Iowa on October 27th. In those two contests, he potted three goals, including the game-winner in Iowa's 4-2 win in Chicago on Saturday, October 29th.
Listed at 6-2, 196 pounds, the Umea, Sweden born left winger played in 28 NHL games in his career, accumulating one goal, one assist and eight penalty minutes: 28(1/1/2)8. A third round selection of the Dallas Stars in the 2000 NHL Entry Draft, he skated in 46 games in his native Sweden, recording 17 points last season, while his 2003-04 AHL numbers reflect 60 games, with 15 goals and 13 assists: 60(15/13/28).
NEXT GAME: Iowa is home for a 7:05 PM face-off with the Peoria Rivermen tonight. Remember, the conclusion of the November 13th game will be played at this time as well.
