(Erie, PA) The Erie SeaWolves in conjunction with the Detroit Tigers announce the coaching staff for the 2006 season. Manager Duffy Dyer, pitching coach Mike Caldwell, and hitting coach Pete Incaviglia return to Erie for the 2006 season joined by trainer Chris McDonald.

Originally drafted by the New York Mets in 1966, the 2006 season will mark Duffy Dyers 41st season in professional baseball. Prior to joining the Tigers organization and managing the SeaWolves in 2005, the fourteen-year major league veteran spent two seasons as a scout for the New York Mets after managing the Bridgeport Bluefish in the Atlantic League in 2001-2002. His managerial experience includes two seasons with the Baltimore Orioles organization (1999-2000), three seasons in the Milwaukee Brewers organization (1986-1988) and two with the Minnesota Twins organization (1984-1985). In addition to his managerial experience, Duffy has served as coach at the major league level including as the bullpen coach for the Chicago Cubs in 1983, seven seasons as the Brewers third base coach (1989-1995), a three seasons with the Oakland A s (1996-1998).

Caldwell enters his 14th season in professional baseball as a pitching coach and his third with the Tigers organization. A 22-game winner and runner-up in the Cy Young balloting in the American League in 1978 with the Milwaukee Brewers, Caldwell compiled 14 seasons in the major leagues, finishing with a 137-130 record and a 3.81 earned run average.

The 2006 season will be Pete Incaviglia s third season as a hitting coach in affiliated baseball and with the SeaWolves after spending parts of 12 seasons in the major leagues with Texas, Detroit, Houston, Philadelphia, Baltimore, and the New York Yankees. Incaviglia hit 206 homeruns in his Major League career and was also named The College Baseball Player of the Century in 2000 by Baseball America. The Montreal Expos drafted Incaviglia in the first round of the 1985 June free-agent draft.

We are excited to have our entire 2005 coaching staff returning for the 2006 season. SeaWolves General Manager John Frey commented. Duffy Dyer is a first class person and represents Erie very well. Pete and Caldy have truly been a joy to work with the past two seasons and bring a great deal of class and intensity to the field. To have a coaching staff with 40 years of Major League playing experience is a truly unique opportunity for the Erie and northwest Pennsylvania to enjoy.

The SeaWolves will welcome new trainer, Chris McDonald, for the 2006 season. The 06 season will be McDonald s six season as a trainer with the Tigers Organization, spending the last three seasons with Single A Lakeland. The Troy, MI native, is a graduate of Bowling Green State Univesirty with a bachelor s of science in education, majoring in sports management with an emphasis in athletic training. His career with the Tigers began as an intern during Spring Training in 2000. He served as the trainer with Single A Oneonta in 2002 and the Gulf Coast League Tigers in 2001.
