'Blades acquire Bergin from Las Vegas

ESTERO, FL - Florida Everblades president & general manager Craig Brush, along with head coach Gerry Fleming announced today that the team has acquired forward Kevin Bergin from the Las Vegas Wranglers for future and financial considerations. Bergin will be in uniform this weekend when the Everblades travel to Gwinnett.

Bergin, who turned 24 on November 6, joins the Everblades after skating in four games (two of which were against the Everblades) with the Wranglers this season, notching two assists and picking up 11 penalty minutes. The Montreal, Quebec native is in his fifth professional season, all in the ECHL. Last year Bergin split time between the Greenville Grrrowl and the Toledo Storm, combining for 19 goals, 35 assists and 110 PIM in 71 games.

In 2003-04 Bergin played the entire season with the Roanoke Express tallying 33 points (13g, 20a) in 70 games, and posted four points in four first-round playoff games for the Express, which was against the Everblades. Bergin's second professional season saw him suit up for three different teams in the ECHL. He began the year with one goal in three games with the Trenton Titans before skating in 30 games with the Pensacola Ice Pilots, notching a pair of assists. Bergin closed out the '02-'03 season with six points (0g, 6a) in 18 games with the Cincinnati Cyclones.

In his first full professional season Bergin saw action with Greenville and the Reading Royals. In 31 games with the Grrrowl he picked up seven points (3g, 4a) and finished off the campaign with 11 games in Reading where he collected two goals.

Overall Bergin has skated in 238 pro games, scoring 107 points and adding 429 penalty minutes. Prior to turning pro, Bergin spent three seasons in the Quebec Major Junior Hockey League with Cape Breton and Shawinigan. Combined, he notched 34 points and 215 PIM in 109 QMJHL games from 1998-2001.

The Everblades host the South Carolina Stingrays on Tuesday, November 8 at 7:30 p.m. from Germain Arena!
