South Carolina Stingrays News Release

North Charleston, SC South Carolina Stingrays Head Coach Jason Fitzsimmons announced today that Goaltender Mike Brown has been assigned back to the Rays by the Providence Bruins of the AHL. Brown has played in one game this season for the Stingrays, a 5-4 shoot out loss against the Columbia Inferno.

The Baldwinsville, NY native is on a contract with the NHL's Boston Bruins. The rookie played in 33 games last season for the Owen Sound Attack and had a record of 17-9-6 with a goals against average of 2.48 and a save percentage of .913. He was a fifth round draft pick of the Bruins in the 2003 entry draft.

"Mike is going to have to step right in and play tonight," commented Fitzsimmons. "With and injury to Maxime Daigneault and the amount of hockey that we have had to play, this is good timing for us. Hopefully he can have a big outing for us tonight in Florida."

The Stingrays release emergency back up goaltender Jorge Alves today.

South Carolina will host the Charlotte Checkers Wednesday, November 23 for their next home game. The team is currently on a six game road trip.
