Texas Tycoons News Release

Dallas, TX. Charles Key, the ABA Texas Tycoons professional basketball team owner and president of Dallas-based Key Sports Management, Inc has landed a "sweet deal" by purchasing the Blue Line Ice Rink, a long-vacant ice rink in North Richland Hills, TX. Key plans to convert the two-story 150,000 sq. ft center into a multi-use sports arena.

Besides becoming the new home for the ABA professional Texas Tycoons team, Key's plans for the arena are to provide usage to a variety of children's sports leagues, soccer, volley balls and hockey leagues, as well as corporate and semi-pro level basketball leagues. With a seating conversion to hold 8000 viewers, concerts and boxing events will provide for even more entertainment.

The arena will also house concessions, corporate box seating and a full restaurant and sports grill. "I have been working on this for a year and now it's really here. I am so happy to be able to provide more options for sports and entertainment to the Dallas and Fort Worth communities as well as sealing a "sweet deal" for the Texas Tycoons," said Key.

The Blue Line Ice Rink was originally the home of the Texas Tornados Junior A team before relocating to Frisco. The Texas Tycoons team previously played their home games in the Birdville Independent School District sports complex in North Richmond Hills TX.

Joe Newman, ABA CEO added, "One of the original goals of the ABA was to have our own venues. We are extremely pleased and proud of the Texas Tycoons for putting this deal together. It is definitely step one in the process - and we couldn't be happier. And, hopefully, shortly we'll be able to announce the second ABA venue." Note: OurSports Central no longer actively covers the American Basketball Association (ABA) as a professional league due in part to its inability to publish and play a schedule and the transitory nature of many of its teams.
