Club Deportivo Chivas USA News Release

CARSON, Calif. - Chivas USA fell 1-0 to Real Salt Lake tonight in Salt Lake City, Utah, in a postseason grudge match between Major League Soccer's two newest clubs, Jamie Watson giving the hosts a 1-0 victory with a 60th-minute goal. During the 2005 MLS regular season, Chivas USA and Real Salt Lake had faced each other on four occasions, with each team winning its two home contests.

More than 10,000 fans showed up at Rice-Eccles Stadium for the match, which marked the Salt Lake City debuts of Chivas USA midseason signings Juan Pablo García and Francisco Palencia. Neither of the high-profile Mexican internationals had been with Chivas USA when the Red-and-White last faced its expansion brethren in early August.

Goalkeeper Brad Guzan and midfielder Francisco Gómez returned to Chivas USA's starting lineup, both players having missed significant playing time during the final stretch of the 2005 season due to injury. Guzan had been sidelined since suffering a facial fracture on September 24 against the Colorado Rapids, while Gómez had only recently returned to Reserve team action after suffering a left quad strain on the artificial turf at Rice-Eccles prior to Chivas USA's last match against RSL on August 6.

Also seeing action with Chivas USA, for the first time since his national team qualified for the 2006 FIFA World Cup, was Costa Rican international Douglas Sequeira. The following players rounded out Chivas USA's starting eleven: Orlando Pérez, Ezra Hendrickson, Ramón Ramírez, Héctor Cuadros, Francisco Palencia, Antonio Martínez, Matt Taylor and Juan Pablo García.

Chivas USA now is gets ready for more postseason exhibitions, including an exciting battle against a Mexican First Division team, to be announced shortly. For more information on all things related to Chivas USA, please visit www.CDCHIVASUSA.com, the club's official web site.
