Long Beach Ice Dogs News Release
Last Weeks Highlights:
10/21/05 > Long Beach 3 @ Idaho 4
In the opening game of the season, the Ice Dogs fell to Idaho 4-3. It was the first meeting between the two teams since the Ice Dogs eliminated the Steelheads in the opening round of the ECHL Playoffs last April. After holding a 2-0 lead midway through the game on goals by Ash Goldie and Christian Larrivee, Idaho scored four goals in a span of 5:04 to take a 4-2 lead. Max Birbraer made it a one goal game late in the third, but it wasn't enough. Greg Hewitt made 28 saves in the loss while Matt Yeats had 26 saves in the win.
10/22/05 > Long Beach 1 @ Idaho 5
The Ice Dogs dropped their second straight game to the Steelheads Saturday night, this time by a score of 5-1. After a scoreless first period, Idaho jumped out to a 2-0 lead in the second before Jason Sessa made it 2-1 in the third. However, the Steelheads scored three unanswered goals in a span of 2:32 to earn their second straight win. Hewitt had 19 saves, while Yeats had 27.
10/23/05 > Long Beach 1 @ Idaho 3
Trying to rebound from the first two games, the Ice Dogs were swept by the Steelheads in the opening series, losing this time by a score of 3-1. Steeve Villeneuve got the Ice Dogs on the board first, 5:22 into the second period, but Idaho scored three unanswered goals to complete the sweep. The 0-3 start marks the first time in Ice Dogs history that they have begun a season with three consecutive losses. Hewitt had 24 saves and Yeats had 25.
