Ice Pilots Lose First Two Games

Pensacola, FL - Ice Pilots lose both games on opening weekend: The Ice Pilots lost both games on opening weekend losing their home opener on Friday night 6-2 to the Greenville Grrrowl and losing 6-0 to Gwinnett at home on Saturday night.

Dallas Steward and Matt Turek scored goals for the Ice Pilots on Friday night. The game was tied at two at the end of the second period but Greenville scored four times in the third to win it 6-2. Brock Radunske scored three goals for the Grrrowl. Greenville had 39 shots on goal to the Ice Pilots 28. Frederic Cloutier was the losing goalie and Mike Morrison picked up the win in goal for the Grrrowl.

The Ice Pilots lost 6-0 to Gwinnett on Saturday night as the Gladiators had 52 shots on goal compared to the Ice Pilots 38. Lane Manson, Chris Durno, Ryan Fultz, Jeff Campbell, Brad Schell and Pascal Pelletier scored goals for Gwinnett. The Ice Pilots had 38 shots on goal and went 0-10 on the power play. Gwinnett had 52 shots on goal and went 2-10 on the power play. Frederic Cloutier was the losing goalie and Sean Fields picked up the shutout win in goal for Gwinnett.

The Ice Pilots 0-2 start is the first time since the 2000-2001 season that the Ice Pilots lost their first two games of the year. It was the Ice Pilots fifth season under head coach Wayne Cashman as the Ice Pilots lost their first four games of the season before winning the next seven in a row.

Ice Pilots play first road game this Friday at Greenville: The Ice Pilots will play the Greenville Grrrowl this Friday night at 6:05 p.m. central time. It will be the first road trip of the season for the Ice Pilots. The Ice Pilots are 0-1 vs. Greenville this year after their season opening lost 6-2. The Ice Pilots lost to the Grrrowl in the opening round of the Kelly Cup playoffs last year 3 games to 1. The Ice Pilots have an all time regular season record of 5-5-0 vs. Greenville including a record of 3-3-0 at home and 2-2-0 on the road.

Ice Pilots play home to Augusta this Saturday night at 7:05 p.m. It will be the first meeting of the year between the two teams. The Ice Pilots had a record of 7-0-1 vs. Augusta last season and have an all time record of 16-3-3 including 8-0-1 at home and 8-3-2 on the road.

Tentative Practice Schedule this week: The Ice Pilots will practice Monday through Wednesday from 10 a.m. - 11:30 a.m. The Ice Pilots will leave for Greenville on Wednesday night at midnight and practice in Greenville on Thursday. The Ice Pilots will play at Greenville on Friday night and play home to Augusta on Saturday.

Dodge Player of the Week: Forward Dallas Steward has been nominated for the ECHL Player of the Week. Steward scored the Ice Pilots first goal of the season in Friday's loss. Frederic Cloutier has been nominated for the ECHL Goalie of the Week. Steward has been named the Dodge Player of the Week.

Ice Pilots Offer Pay Per View Webcasts with B2 Networks this season. The Ice Pilots home and away games are available for viewing on the Ice Pilots website at www.icepilots.com . The Ice Pilots have partnered with B2 Networks based in Las Vegas, Nevada on the pay per view broadcast.

Fans will be able to click on the Watch the Game Live icon at the Ice Pilots website to view and listen to the game. The broadcast is available to fans with high speed DSL or Cable modem internet connection and the charge is $6 per game.

Ice Pilots Radio Show at new location this year the Islander Lounge on Pensacola Beach: The Ice Pilots radio show will be broadcast at a new location this year at the Islander Lounge on Pensacola Beach. The show is broadcasted on the Ice Pilots Hockey Network from 6 p.m.- 7 p.m. on Monday night's.
