STORM NOTES

- Opening up with an explosion! Toledo opened the 2005-06 with a 6-5 win over Dayton. The six goals are the most for the Storm on opening night since October 12, 2001 when Toledo defeated Johnstown 9-3. Toledo has won its last 5 home openers.

- Scooting Along! Of Toledo's 6 goals Friday, Scooter Smith was in on 5. Scooter assisted on 4 straight goals by Toledo, and tallied his lone goal of the game with just 36 seconds left in regulation to lift the Storm to the win.

- Magnification factors two! Ken Magowan made his presence felt with two goals on opening night. His first came from a one-timer on the power play, and his second tied the game at 5 at 17:18 of the third period.

- Jackson Stars in two! After being assigned to Toledo on 10/18/05, Todd Jackson got things rolling this weekend with a 2 goal, 1 assist performance Friday. He added his third goal in Saturday's game.

- Shooting Gallery! Not only did Toledo score 8 goals over the first two games of the season they also racked up 80 shots on goal. The Storm had 33 Friday night and 47 Saturday (Scooter Smith had 11).

- Power Play Crazy! Toledo scored two power play goals over the weekend in 16 chances. Saturday night, the Storm had 13 opportunities with the man advantage, and collected 31 shots with those chances. For the season, Toledo is 12.5% on the power play.

- Toledo's penalty kill unit allowed three goals in 15 chances against over the weekend, which is 80%.

STORM WATCH

- The Toledo Storm Coach's Show is this Tuesday evening from 6-7pm at the Maumee Bay Brewing Company inside the Oliver House, Downtown Toledo. Head Coach Nick Vitucci and Assistant Stan Drulia will join Matt Melzak for insight and conversation on the start of the 2005-06 season and what lies ahead for the Storm. The Storm Coach's Show can be heard live on Dominion 1520 JAMZ, which is the home of Toledo Storm Hockey.

- Wednesday Night the Storm resumes its season in Johnstown with a date against the Chiefs. Toledo owns an All-Time mark of 40-30-11 against Johnstown. Last season, the Storm took seven of nine from the Chiefs and out scored them 33-18.

- Friday night Toledo returns home for a date with its archrival the Dayton Bombers. The two teams split last weekend with each team winning at home. Toledo is 75-51-15 against the Bombers All-time.

- Saturday night features the first appearance at the Sports Arena for the Johnstown Chiefs. The Stanley Cup will also be on hand that night. Fans will be able to see the Cup and have photos taken with the greatest prize in hockey for a monetary donation to the cause. All proceeds from the night will go to the United Way Hurricane Response and Recovery Fund.

STORM PLAYER OF THE WEEK:

Scooter Smith (1 goal - 4 assists = 5 points) Scooter only needed one game this week to draw player of the week honors. His one goal was a game winner Friday as he had a hand in the last five Storm goals that game. Saturday, Scooter collected 11 shots.

STORM GOALTENDER OF THE WEEK:

Logan Koopmans (1-1-0, 5.37 gaa, 0.854 save%) Head Coach and Director of Player Personnel Nick Vitucci had this to say after Friday's game "We probably don't win tonight if it isn't for Logan."
