TRENTON, NJ - The Trenton Titans started their seventh season of play with a 5-3 win over the Wheeling Nailers on Saturday night at Sovereign Bank Arena.
A near sell-out crowd of 7,093 watched the Titans raise the banner on their 2005 Kelly Cup Championship. They then saw newly-appointed captain Chris Thompson record a hat trick to help Trenton to the victory. Scott May tallied the game-winning goal with 1:20 left in regulation.
After the short week, Trenton finds itself in a four-way tie for first place in the North Division.
The Titans begin their second weekend of the 2005-06 season with a game against the Johnstown Chiefs on Friday, October 28 at 7:30pm at Cambria County War Memorial. They finish the weekend with a road game against the Reading Royals on Saturday, October 9 at 7:05pm

Friday, October 28 @ Johnstown, 7:30pm (91.3FM-WTSR) Cambria County War Memorial - The Chiefs come out of the first weekend 0-2 having had to visit Columbia on Friday and then travel through the night in order to host Reading on Saturday.
Saturday, October 29 @ Reading, 7:05pm (91.3FM-WTSR) Sovereign Center - Like the Titans, the Royals had a light opening weekend as well. In Reading's only game, Mike Pandolfo scored 2 goals in 3-2 win over the Chiefs on Saturday.

- Chris Thompson's hat trick on Friday was the 11th to be scored on an opening night since 1999. - The Titans are now 5-2 in season openers and 6-1 in their home opener. - On game under their belt and the Titans already notched a win after trailing heading into the third period. Last year, Trenton was 4-16-5 when trailing after two. - Trenton ranks in the top ten in the ECHL in power play (2nd, 33.3%), penalty kill (T-6th, 88.9%), goals per game (1st, 5.00), goals against per game (T-10th, 3.00), shots per games (T-10th, 32.00) and shots against per game (2nd, 22.0).
