Stockton Thunder News Release

STOCKTON, Calif. - The Stockton Thunder has agreed to terms with defenseman Geno Parrish, left wing Derek Campbell, and has also received right wing Dominic Soucy from training camp with the Binghamton Senators, Thunder head coach Chris Cichocki announced today. Per club policy, terms of the deals were not disclosed.

"Geno is an exceptional, offensive-minded defenseman who will also help us out quarterbacking the power play," said Cichocki. "I expect him to perform as one of the top defensemen in the league, as he has been before."

Parrish, 30, joins the Thunder after originally signing with the Texas Wildcatters, who took a voluntary suspension for the 2005-06 ECHL season due to Hurricane Rita. Parrish split the 2004-05 campaign in Germany with Freiburg and in the UHL with the Danbury Trashers (5g-37a=42p total), logging 85 total PIM's in 62 total games. His ECHL experience extends to two seasons with the Greensboro Generals (16g-93a=109p total) from 2002-04, appearing in 144 games with 165 total penalty minutes. Parrish's 66 points in 2003-04 finished third amongst defensemen in scoring, and his 55 assists in 2003-04 finished second amongst all blueliners.

"Derek is a good, two-way forward who performs with a lot of grit and determination every shift," said Cichocki. "You can't have enough of those guys."

Campbell comes to the Thunder out of training camp with the American Hockey League's Houston Aeros. Campbell, 25, played a combined 61 games in 2004-05 with the United Hockey League's Elmira Jackals and AHL's Binghamton Senators (4g-14a=18p total), logging 233 total penalty minutes. His career highlights include a 2000-01 scoring outburst with 69 points (25g-44a) in the junior ranks with the Kingston Frontenacs of the Ontario Hockey League, where he logged 130 PIM's in 57 games.

Soucy, 21, comes to Stockton after receiving his release from his amateur tryout agreement with the AHL's Senators. He appeared in two games with Binghamton (0g-0a=0p), going scoreless. Soucy enjoyed two previous illustrious seasons with the Prince Edward Island Rocket of the Quebec Major Junior Hockey League, including a 55-point season (17g-38a=55p) in 70 games during the 2004-05 season.

The Thunder opens up the regular season October 22 at Fresno, while hosting the Falcons in the Stockton's inaugural home opener on December 3.

Season tickets for the upcoming Thunder season are on sale now. Tickets for the home opener can currently be purchased as part of a full or mini season package.
