Long Beach Ice Dogs News Release
LAS VEGAS, Nev. - Though it won't mean anything in the standings come Friday when the regular season opens up, the Ice Dogs can still take satisfaction in going 2-0-0 in the preseason after a 5-1 drubbing of the Las Vegas Wranglers Sunday night.
The Ice Dogs got on the board first with a power play goal by Jason Sessa, midway through the first period. Long Beach made it 2-0 early in the second with a goal by Max Birbraer, but the Wranglers cut the lead in half ten minutes later with a shorthanded goal by Marco Peluso. The score remained 2-1 Ice Dogs after two periods.
In the third period, it was all Long Beach as newcomer Jimmy Bonneau scored and Birbraer added two empty net goals to complete his hat trick. Greg Hewitt got the win in goal for the Ice Dogs.
Long Beach will open their season on the road in Boise, to take on the Idaho Steelheads in a three game series starting October 21. The Ice Dogs eliminated the 2004 defending Kelly Cup champion Steelheads in the first round of the playoffs last April, winning the series 3 games to 1.
The Ice Dogs home opener is Friday, October 28th, versus the Fresno Falcons at 7:30 PM. Season tickets for the 2005-06 season are on sale now, and can be secured by depositing just $100 per seat. Call (562) ICE-DOGS for visit www.icedogs.com for more information.
