Atlanta Gladiators News Release
Back in Gold and Burgundy: Troy Milam was assigned to the Gladiators from the Chicago Wolves on Wednesday, October 12th. Milam began his professional career with the Gladiators during Gwinnett's inaugural 2003-04 season. He represented the Gladiators in the 2004 ECHL All Star game posting a goal and an assist in the contest.
Leading the team: Ryan Fultz posted a goal in each of the Gladiators two pre-season games against the Pensacola Ice Pilots and finished the Gladiators exhibition schedule as the team's leading goal scorer. Derek Nesbitt, Scott Kelman, Steve Slaton and Jared Ross each finished with 2 assists in the pre season. Fultz and Jared Ross finished in a tie for scoring with 3 points each during the pre season.
Getting the Call: The Atlanta Thrashers have called up former Gladiators goaltenders Adam Berkhoel and Michael Garnett due to injuries. Berkhoel appeared in 24 games last year with the Gladiators posting a 2.43 goals against average and a .913 save percentage. Garnett holds the Gladiators team record for lowest goals against average during a single season as he posted a 2.14 goals against average during the 2003-04 season. Garnett made his NHL debut on Wednesday, October 12th against the Montreal Canadians in relief of Mike Dunham making 29 saves on 30 shots. Berkhoel made his NHL debut on Saturday night recording 24 saves in a 5-1 loss at the New York Rangers.
The Opener: The Gladiators open the regular season on Friday at the Arena at Gwinnett Center hosting the Charlotte Checkers at 7:35 p.m. All fans in attendance will receive a free Gladiators team logo cap at the game courtesy of Kroger, The AJC Gwinnett News and Dave FM.
Back in Gwinnett: The Gladiators have eight players returning to the team from last season. Lane Manson and Brad Schell have been assigned to the Gladiators from the Atlanta Thrashers while Jeff Campbell, Sean Fields and Pascal Pelletier return for their second season with Gwinnett. Chris Durno, Rick Emmett and Cam Brown return for their third season on the Gladiators.

October 14th, Pensacola 2, Gladiators 1 (SOL) - EXH.
Ryan Fultz scored the Gladiators only goal in the shootout loss. Pensacola opened the scoring at the 7:45 mark of the first period. The lead only lasted four minutes before Fultz equalized the contest. The game stayed deadlocked at 1-1 through the final two periods and overtime. Pensacola needed 8 rounds in the shootout to get past the Gladiators as Dominic Noel scored the game winner in the shootout for Pensacola. Sean Fields finished with 29 saves for the Gladiators in the loss.
October 15th, Gladiators 6, Pensacola 3 - EXH
Pensacola scored 48 seconds into the first period and also held a 2-1 lead during the first period but the Gladiators scored 4 first period goals and cruised to a 6-3 win in the final exhibition game of the pre season. Six different players scored for Gwinnett in the win. Jared Ross finished with a goal and two assists while Scott Kelman and Derek Nesbitt each posted 2 assists for the Gladiators in the win. Tuomas Tarkki finished with 26 saves in the win for the Gladiators.

The Gladiators open the 2005-06 regular season in a rematch of their final playoff series of last year that saw the Checkers beat the Gladiators 3 games to 1. Gwinnett is 11-8-3 all time against Charlotte and finished last year 5-2-1 against the Checkers. Sean Fields finished with a perfect 3-0-0 record against Charlotte during the regular season.

The Gladiators face the Ice Pilots 12 times during the regular season this year. Gwinnett is 28-24-14 all time against Pensacola, including Gwinnett's time as the Mobile Mysticks. The Gladiators went 1-1-0 in two meetings at the Pensacola Civic Center last year.
The Gwinnett Gladiators open the 2005-06 ECHL season at the Arena at Gwinnett Center hosting the Charlotte Checkers on October 21st.
