Steelheads hook three fimiliar faces

BOISE, Idaho - The Idaho Steelheads announced today that three former players, Jeremy Mylymok, Marty Flichel and Justin Cox, will attend this season's training camp and vie for a spot on the 2005-06 opening day roster.
Mylymok, 33, will enter into his sixth season with Idaho. The 6'0", 200-pound defenseman has three championships under his belt; the last as captain of the 2003-04 ECHL Kelly Cup Champion Idaho Steelheads. He was also an integral part of the Chicago Wolves team that won the 1998 and 2000 International Hockey League (IHL) Turner Cups. While on Idaho's roster, Mylymok was named the 2001 West Coast Hockey League (WCHL) Defenseman of the Year and was named to the 1st Team on the WCHL's All Star roster.
Flichel, selected by the Dallas Stars in round 9, #228 overall in the 1994 NHL Entry Draft, scored 67 points (32 goals, 35 assists) in 62 games for Idaho during the 2002-03 season and tallied 15 points (5 goals, 10 assists) 20 games with Idaho last season. In addition to playing with Idaho in the WCHL and ECHL, the 29-year-old has played in the Western Hockey League (WHL), International Hockey League (IHL), British Elite League (BISL), and United Hockey League (UHL). The 5'11", 195-pound forward was named to the 1995-96 All-Star Team with Kelowna (WHL).
Cox, selected by the Dallas Stars in round 6, #184 overall in the 1999 NHL Entry Draft, began the 2004-05 season with Idaho and played in 17 games with the ECHL team, notching 8 points (4 goals, 4 assists). The 6'0", 180-pound British Columbia native, was called up to the Utah Grizzlies (formerly Idaho's American Hockey League affiliate) and spent the majority of the season there seeing action in 54 games and earning 6 points (5 goals, 1 assist). Prior to last season, the 24-year-old right winger played three full seasons with Utah (AHL, 2001-04), and four seasons in the WHL (1997-2001).

- Fans are invited to the Bank of America Centre tonight from 5 pm-8 pm to meet the 2005-06 team and head coach Derek Laxdal. The Meet n' Greet Open House, presented by Pepsi, includes a free skate, a free beverage (Pepsi or beer), locker room tours, great chance to see available seats and suites left for this season, prizes, and autographs - admission is free. ESPN Radio KTIK The Ticket will broadcast its Idaho Sports Talk show with Caves and Prater live at the event.
- Players report to training camp for physicals on Thursday, October 6th. A team practice has been added on Friday, October 7th at 2:00 p.m. at the Bank of America Centre. The team will also practice at the BofA on Monday, October 10th at 10 a.m. Practices are free and open to fans and media. Camp will move to the Manchester Ice and Events Centre in McCall, Idaho on October 11th and run through October 15th, and will include a preseason game on Friday, October 14th at 7:30 pm against the Utah Grizzlies and a Steelheads' intrasquad game on Saturday, October 15th at 4:00 pm, presented by NAPA Auto Parts. Tickets for the preseason games may be purchased from the Manchester Ice and Events Centre at 208.634.3570 or by visiting the Manchester Centre's Will Call window. Children under three get in free.
- The Idaho Steelheads open the 2005-06 season on October 21st against the Long Beach Ice Dogs. Steelheads' season ticket packages are on sale now. Tickets may be purchased by calling 208.383.0080.
