D-Braves defeat JC-Cardinals

Danville, VA - The Danville Braves beat the visiting Johnson City Cardinals 6-3 with 1,224 Thirsty Thursday fans looking on.

Yohan Silva led the Braves offense going three for four with an RBI. Third baseman Eric Cambell picked up two more hits to bring his season total up to 80. With a hit in the third inning, catcher Max Ramirez picked up his 81st hit of the season to bring him within seven of tying the Danville hits record of 88 that was set in 1999 by Rafeal Furcal.

Braves starter Devin Anderson went five strong innings only allowing three hits with seven strikeouts and one walk. Bryan Johnson pitched two innings allowing one run on two hits, one walk and had one strikeout. Donovan Hendricks and Rudy Quinonez pitched the final two frames allowing two runs on two hits, one walk and three strikeouts.

Quinonez picked up his 10th save of the season, which puts him third on the All-Time D-Braves Saves list. The Braves saves record stands at 16 in a season, which was set in 2002 by Fernando Tadefa.

The Braves continue their home stand against the Johnson City Cardinals Friday night, which is the second Church Night of the season as well as Back to School Night where kids under the age of 14 will receive a backpack courtesy of Sallie Mae Financial.

‘Get Your Butts Out Of The Seats' night is scheduled for Saturday where smoking will not be allowed in the stands courtesy of the Virginia Department of Health. The Braves finish out the regular season with three home games versus the Bluefield Orioles starting on Sunday afternoon at 4:00 pm.
