BURLINGTON, VT --- The Vermont Expos rallied from an 11-5 deficit with six runs in the bottom of the ninth and scored the winning run on an error in the 10th inning for a 12-11 victory over the Lowell Spinners in New York-Penn League action Wednesday night at Centennial Field.

The Expos cut the lead to 11-6 in the ninth on an RBI groundout from Carlos Torres for the second out of the ninth. Vermont trailed 11-7 with runners on second and third when Spinner catcher Ricardo Sanchez dropped a pop-up just in front of the plate to score another run.

Vermont got two more runs when third baseman Zak Farkes threw wild to first on a Lorvin Louisa grounder to cut the lead to 11-10. Louisa, who went to third on the throwing error, then scored to tie the game on a wild pitch.

The Expos improbably won the game in the 10th when Torres scored from second base on a throwing error by shortstop Jed Lowrie on a groundball from Mike Daniel.

Lowell had rallied earlier in the game from a 5-1 deficit when they scored six runs on just two hits in the sixth inning and four more runs in the seventh to take the 11-5 lead.

Apodaca went 3-for-5 with three runs scored, while Torres also scored three runs for the Expos. Lorvin Louisa added a three-run double in the fourth inning that had given Vermont a 4-1 lead. Dustin Kelly, Patrick Perry and Lowrie each went 2-for-4 with two runs for Lowell.

Only two of Vermont's seven runs over the final two innings were earned as Lowell reliever Argimiro Guanchez (0-4) gave up the unearned run in the 10th to take the loss. Spinner reliever T.J. Large allowed all six runs in the ninth, but only two were earned.

Expos starter Marco Estrada allowed just one run on four hits with two walks and six strikeouts over five innings in his final appearance of the season for Vermont as Estrada is returning to school in California. Reliever Jeff Taylor walked five in allowing six runs in the sixth and Jamie Lehman allowed four runs in the seventh.

Craig Stammen (4-5), also making his final appearance for the Expos before returning to school in Ohio, allowed one hit and struckout three over the final two innings to pick up the win. Vermont (21-40) will wrap up the eight-game homestand with the second game of the series with Lowell on Thursday night at Centennial Field with John Lannan on the mound for the Expos in the 7:05 p.m. start.
