Harrisburg Senators News Release
The Harrisburg Senators announced today that former major league outfielder Kenny Kelly has been added to the roster from New Orleans. Heading to New Orleans will be infielder Edgar Gonzalez.
Kelly was originally drafted by the Tampa Bay Devil Rays in the 2nd round of the 1997 draft out of the University of Miami where he also played quarterback for the Hurricanes.
Kelly played in the major leagues for the Devil Rays in 2000 and with Washington this season after the Nationals picked him off the waiver wire from Cincinnati on July 20th.
This season Kelly played with Louisville (.326, 3, 17, 18 SB) and New Orleans (4 games, .250, 0, 1).
Gonzalez appeared in 101 games with the Senators this season, playing several different positions. He was batting .279 with 8 home runs and 50 RBI's before his departure. Gonzalez was also a member of the Southern Division Eastern League all-star game.
