Cardinals score 6 runs in top of 4th and 4 runs in 8th inning to wipe out 2-1 Expos lead

BURLINGTON, VT --- Tyler Greene went 4-for-6 with one run, two doubles and four RBI to lead the New Jersey Cardinals to a 11-3 victory over the Vermont Expos in New York-Penn League action Friday night at Centennial Field.

The Cardinals trailed 2-1 in the top of the fourth inning when they scored six runs on five hits off Expos starter Aaron Jackson. Daniel Nelson had an RBI double in the inning, while Greene added a two-run single.

New Jersey then added four runs on three hits, including an RBI single from Greene, off Expos reliever Marco Estrada in the eighth inning for a 11-2 lead.

Daniel Nelseon was 3-for-4 with two doubles and Sean Dobson scored three runs for the Cardinals, while Zack Zuercher (2-3) allowed two runs on six hits with two walks and five strikeouts over six innings for the win.

The Expos tied the game 1-1 in the bottom of the first inning on a two-out RBI double to rightcenter from Dee Brown to score John-Michael Howell, who gave Vermont a 2-1 lead in the third with an RBI groundout to score Jose Contreras from third base.

Vermont avoided scoring two runs in a game for the 10th time this season when they scored an unearned. Rolando Arnedo had a one-out single and moved to second on a throwing error and scored on a pair of wild pitches.

Contreras had three hits and Rolando Arnedo two hits for the Expos, while Jackson (1-5) allowed seven runs (six earned) on eight hits over three innings for the loss.

Vermont (8-23) and New Jersey (14-17) will play game two of their three-game series on Saturday night with Craig Stammen getting the start for the Expos on "Summer of Love" Night at the ballpark.
