July 20, 2005 - California League (CalL1)
Modesto Nuts News Release

The Modesto Nuts secured their spot atop the Northern Division Tuesday night with a 12-9 win over the Stockton Ports. Mark Kaiser was not his usual sharp self, giving up six runs in six innings, but the offense picked him up with four home runs to get Kaiser his sixth win of the season. Jason Burch helped Alberto Arias out of a jam in the seventh inning and Jim Miller pitched a shutout ninth inning for his league-leading 23rd save of the season.

Ian Stewart (11), Joe Gaetti (16) and Michael Davies (8) all hit solo home runs in the second inning to erase a 3-0 deficit, and then Erik Dean sparked a four run third inning with a two-run triple. Leading 7-6 in the sixth inning, Troy Tulowitzki clobbered a three-run home run, his second of the season, in his first game played since July 4th. He would later add an RBI double the next inning to complete a three-hit night. Ian Stewart also had a three-hit night to extend his hitting streak to 11 games and Jonathan Herrera had three hits to extend his hitting streak to seven games.

The series continues Wednesday night as Juan Morillo goes to the mound for Modesto. He will be opposed by Stockton's Brad Knox. Game time at Jo9hn Thurman Field is 7:05 p.m.
