Cards fall to Crosscutters

June 22, 2005 - New York-Penn League (NYPL)
New Jersey Cardinals News Release

This evening at Skylands Park in Augusta, New Jersey, the New Jersey Cardinals lost to Williamsport (Pittsburg Pirates) 4-0, dropping them to an even 1-1 on the season. The Crosscutters also moved to 1-1, with the rubber game of the series to come tomorrow. Zack Zuercher (0-1) took the loss for the Cardinals, with Derek Antelo (1-0) picking up the victory.

The Crosscutters first struck in the 4th as James Boone led off with a walk, stole second base, and later scored on a two out wild pitch. A 3 run 6th inning for Williamsport sealed the deal as the Crosscutters pitchers were able to hold off every Cardinal rally.

Brandon Yarbrough went 2-for-3 with 2 doubles, and Casey Rowlett added a single in the 6th to round out the hitting.

The Cardinals will conclude their series with the Crosscutters on Thursday at 7:15 pm, with the first of the Daily Record Dollar Days as specials will be offered throughout the night.
