THIS WEEKÂ’S GAMES:

Wednesday, June 15 at Phoenix Mercury @ America West Arena 2:30 p.m. KSLJ 810AM

This will be the first of four contests between the Silver Stars and the Mercury this season. San Antonio is looking to start off the series as they did last year with a win on the road. The Mercury went on to win the next three games and take the season series 3-1. Overall, San Antonio trails Phoenix in the all-time series 13-16. The Silver Stars and Mercury will face each other three more times this season. Phoenix makes the trip to the Alamo City on July 5 and July 23, while the Silver Stars make the trip to Valley of the Sun again on August 19.

Saturday, June 18 vs. Houston Comets @ SBC Center 7:00 p.m. KSLJ 810AM / WB 35

This will mark the second of four meetings between San Antonio and Houston this season. The Silver Stars lost the the previous contest this season 78-69 in their season-opener in San Antonio on 5/21. San Antonio was led by Marie Ferdinand with 24 points and Katie Feenstra who had tallied 9 points and a team-high 6 rebounds in her WNBA debut. Overall, the Silver Stars trail the Comets in the all-time series 8-22. San Antonio and Houston will face each other two more times in 2005 with both games being played in Houston on 6/25 and 7/30. SILVER STARS NOTES:

INJURY BUG BITING THE SILVER STARS: The Silver Stars have been bitten by the injury bug in the early part of the 2005 seasonÂ…during training camp Lindsey Yamasaki tore her right Achilles tendon and is out the remainder of the seasonÂ…on opening night Kendra Wecker, San AntonioÂ’s first round draft pick (fourth overall), tore her right ACL and is out for the remainder of the seasonÂ…the latest Silver Stars player to be bitten by the bug is LaToya Thomas who suffered a torn right labrum during San AntonioÂ’s game vs. Connecticut on 6/11Â…Thomas will likely miss the remainder of the season as well.

DYNAMIC DUO: During the last five games Silver Stars centers Chantelle Anderson and Katie Feenstra have been a formidable force on the offensive end of the courtÂ…between the two of them they are averaging 18.6 points a game (Anderson, 9.8, Feenstra, 8.8) while shooting an astounding 54.5 (42-77) percent from the floor.

Silver Stars in the Community

On Thursday and Friday, Silver Stars fans will be able to come by area Taco Bell/KFC locations to meet and visit with their favorite Silver Stars players. Over the two days, the 2005 Silver Stars team will divide up to visit four Taco Bell/KFC locations where they will greet customers, sign autographs and hand out vouchers to select Silver Stars home game.
