June 10, 2005 - California League (CalL1)
Lancaster JetHawks News Release

(Lancaster, CA) - The Lancaster JetHawks will return from a ten-game road trip on Tuesday to begin the final homestand of the first half of the 2005 season. The JetHawks won the California League South Division in both halves of the 2004 season and will be looking to defend this crown in the final six games of the first half this season. Entering play on Friday, the JetHawks sit one game behind the Lake Elsinore Storm for first place.

The homestand will begin with the Bakersfield Blaze visiting to Clear Channel Stadium at Lancaster, CA for a three-game series. The JetHawks finished a series with the Blaze on Thursday in Bakersfield, dropping two of the three games played against the Texas Rangers’ affiliate. The series will continue on Wednesday and Thursday with Wednesday being another Weenie Wednesday at the ballpark. Hot dogs will be available for $1 compliments of Hebrew National.

Following the series with the Blaze, the JetHawks will host the Visalia Oaks beginning on Friday, June 17 for a three-game weekend series to wrap up the first half. To kick off the weekend, the JetHawks will be celebrating the accomplishments of aerospace pioneer Burt Rutan, the creator of SpaceShipOne. In June of 2004, SpaceShipOne became the first privately financed, manned spacecraft to fly to the edge of space and back. Rutan’s vehicle repeated the feat this past Fall, twice within a 14-day span to win the coveted Ansari X-prize. The JetHawks will be honoring Rutan for his accomplishments and contributions to the community with a bobblehead doll in his likeness on Friday. The first 1,000 fans in attendance will receive the doll sponsored by American Medical Response. The entire night is sponsored by AMR, The AV Press, and 103.3 FM KTPI Country

The exciting weekend will continue on Saturday with an assortment of activities. The JetHawks will honor the men and women of the United States Armed Forces with the annual Military Appreciation Night. The game has been dedicated to the work of our military in keeping the United States a safe and free nation. Fans will be treated to a post-game fireworks show and the first 1,000 fans will receive a pair of ThunderStix courtesy of Wal-Mart. The night is sponsored by Wal-Mart, Aerotech News, The AV Press, 103.1 FM KTPI Country and FOX Sports Radio 610 AM.

On both Friday and Saturday, First City Credit Union will help the JetHawks celebrate its Tenth Anniversary Salute season with home runs fireworks. Every time a JetHawks player launches a home run, the sky will be lit with fireworks compliments of First City Credit Union.

The homestand and the first half of the season will conclude with Sunday’s game against the Oaks. The JetHawks will join together with Rancho Sierra Golf Course to celebrate Father’s Day. Every father that comes through the gates will be awarded with a gift certificate good for a golf ball from Rancho Sierra Golf Course and can enter to win a free round of golf.

ATTENTION: Tickets for Saturday, June 18, are extremely limited, with less than one hundred seats available. General Admission remains available for grass seating at $5 per ticket. Tickets for the upcoming July 4 game are also limited and are expected to sell out in the near future.
