COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo.– Colorado Springs outfielder Jorge Piedra had a highly productive week and earned the PCL Player of the Week award for May 23. Piedra hit .444 (12-for-27) with four doubles, 11 RBI and six runs scroed in six games. Memphis right-hander Anthony Reyes had one start and made the most of it, throwing a one-hit complete game shutout of the Portland Beavers to earn PCL Pitcher of the Week honors.

Piedra, a resident of Van Nuys, Calif., is hitting .311 on the season with 12 doubles, three homers and 30 RBI. He's currently on a nine-game hitting streak that has raised his average from the .253 mark. Piedra was acquired by the Rockies organization in 2002 in a trade with the Chicago Cubs. Last season, in his first season with the Sox, Piedra hit .334 with 29 doubles, 15 home runs and 55 RBI in 99 games.

Reyes, of Whittier, Calif., is 5-1 with a 2.44 ERA and 48 strikeouts in 55.1 innings against only nine walks and 35 hits. His complete game shutout was the third in the PCL this season. Reyes, 23, was a 15th round draft choice by the Cardinals organization in 2003. This is his first season at the Triple-A level.

The Pacific Coast League, established in 1903, has officially begun its quest for the 7-million fan milestone, a first for any single circuit in Minor League Baseball history. Join the march on the League's official web site, www.pclbaseball.com.
