Meredith Promoted to Triple-A

Portland, Maine- The Boston Red Sox have announced that right-handed relief pitcher Cla Meredith has been transferred from the Double-A Portland Sea Dogs to Triple-A Pawtucket. In addition, the Red Sox have placed outfielder Sheldon Fulse on the disabled list with a sore left wrist.

Meredith, 21 years-old, has appeared in 12 games with the Sea Dogs this season and has recorded a 1-0 record with an Eastern League leading nine saves and a 0.00 ERA. In 15 innings of work he has not allowed a run on five hits; he has walked three and struck out 12.

A native of Richmond, Virginia, Meredith was a 6th round draft pick of the Boston Red Sox in the June 2004 draft. In 2004, he split time with Single-A Augusta and Single-A Sarasota and posted a combined record of 1-2 along with an organizational best 18 saves and a 1.14 ERA.

Fulse has appeared in 16 games this season for Portland, he his hitting .114 with one home run, three RBI, and four stolen bases.

The Portland Sea Dogs return home from a ten day road trip on Friday, May 6th at 7:00 PM against the Norwich Navigators (Giants). Portland has a league best record of 15-7.
