Calgary Stampeders News Release

(Calgary) – Today, the Calgary Stampeder Football Club announced that former Stampeder player Basil Bark has purchased the Stamps’ Store. Basil played eight years with the red and white and 13 in the CFL. He was a four time all-star and Stampeder captain from 1972-1977. He was most recently named to Calgary’s “Dream Team” as the centre.

“It’s a natural fit,” explained President and CEO Ted Hellard describing the sale of the Stamps Store to former Stampeder Basil Bark. “He brings a tremendous amount of passion to the red and white along with a wealth of experience in the retail industry.”

“I’m extremely excited to be involved with the Stampeder organization once again,” stated Stamps’ Store owner Basil Bark. “Both the current management and myself share the same goals and vision of the organization. One that stands out is the commitment to providing authentic affordable gear for our fans and once again make it “cool” for kids to wear Stampeder products.”

Basil has not only excelled on the field but also away from the game. He was a founding partner of the Forzani Group of retail stores with the Forzani brothers in 1972. The group operated the novelty concessions for several years in the late 70Â’s and early 80Â’s. Basil headed up all business functions with the company at one time including the organizations role as President. He presently owns seven Intersport locations through Alberta which is a franchise banner of Forzani Group and the largest retailer of sporting goods in the world. (Calgary locations: Market Mall and North Hill Centre).
