SAN ANTONIO – Silver Stars Chief Operating Officer Clarissa Davis-Wrightsil announced today that the Silver Stars have signed Chen Nan to a free-agent contract. Per team policy, terms of the deal were not released. In addition, the Silver Stars have come to terms with Adrian Williams for the 2005 season.

Nan, a 6'6" center, from China, is the third Chinese player to be signed by a WNBA team this offseason. She joins Miao Miao and Sui Feifei from the Sacramento Monarchs as the three Chinese standouts to be signed by WNBA teams. Nan is currently in her fifth year with the Chinese National Team and recently finished her sixth season in the Women's Chinese Basketball Association (WCBA) where she has helped lead Bayi Army to three league championships (2001-02, 2002-03, 2003-04).

During the 2004 Olympics in Athens, Nan averaged a team-high 19.3 points and 7.0 rebounds while shooting 55.9 percent (19-34) in three games before getting injured in the third game of the qualifying round. This past season in the WCBA, Nan guided Bayi Army to the playoffs, averaging 16.5 points and 8.5 rebounds in 27.0 minutes per game. Her best season came in 2003-04 when she guided Bayi to the WBCA Championship, averaging a career-best 20.0 points, 10.5 rebounds, 2.0 steals and 1.65 blocks per game while shooting 57.5 percent from the field.

The Silver Stars will host the Chinese National Team on May 14 during a closed scrimmage at the Antioch Sports Complex and Community Center.

Williams, a 6'4" forward/center, originally joined the Silver Stars last year in a trade that sent Gwen Jackson to the Phoenix Mercury. She appeared in 11 games with San Antonio, averaging 2.7 points and 2.3 rebounds in 12.4 minutes per game. For her career, the 2004 All-Star has played in 142 games, averaging 5.7 points, 4.7 rebounds and 1.08 steals in 20.3 minutes per game.

The Silver Stars are currently getting ready for the 2005 season with training camp taking place at the Antioch Sports Complex and Community Center. San Antonio opens the 2005 regular season at home on Saturday, May 21 at the SBC Center when they host Sheryl Swoopes and the Houston Comets at 7:00 p.m.
