Sting to host Draft Party and Fan Fest

The Charlotte Sting, owners of the #1 pick in the 2005 WNBA Draft, will host a Draft Party and Fan Fest at the Charlotte Coliseum on Saturday, April 16, prior to the Charlotte Bobcats home game against New York. The Sting have been on the clock since December 1, when they beat the odds to win the WNBA Draft Lottery. In addition to the top pick, the Sting also hold the 24th overall selection in the three-round draft.

Fans are invited to attend the Sting Draft Party beginning at 11 a.m. in the Coliseum’s Orange Parking Lot. The event will feature a live remote by 107.9 FM The Link, with morning show personality Matt Harris serving as the event’s host. Fans will have the opportunity to win prizes, get autographs, purchase the newest Sting merchandise and watch the draft unfold on big screen televisions with Sting players Tammy Sutton-Brown, Kelly Mazzante, Jia Perkins and Tangela Smith.

The first round of the 2005 Draft will be broadcast on ESPN 2 while the second and third rounds will air on NBA TV. ESPN 2’s coverage begins at Noon, featuring live look-ins of the coaching staff in Charlotte’s Draft Center as well as the fans participating in the Sting’s Draft Party.

Single-game tickets, starting at just $10, will be on sale at the Coliseum’s Advance Ticket Office during the festivities. Any fan who purchases a ticket to opening night on May 21 against Washington will receive a complimentary ticket to any remaining game during the 2005 regular season.

Sting General Manager and Head Coach Trudi Lacey will be available to local media upon completion of the 2005 WNBA Draft in the Coliseum’s Press Room.
