Generals announce selections in amateur draft

FLINT, MI - The Flint Generals of the United Hockey League announce the selection of nine players in the 2004-2005 United Hockey League Amateur Draft held last week.

Vice President & Head Coach, Robbie S. Nichols selected right wing, Marek Kvapil in the first round, defenseman, forward Thomas Harrison in the first round as a result of a trade with Danbury sending Francis Belanger and Jonathan Gagnon to Danbury for wingers Greg Goodnough and Glenn Zuck.

The Generals also selected right wing, David Herring in the second round whom has spent the last four seasons with the Ontario League’s Erie Otters. Flint also selected right wing J.B. Bittner whom has spent the last four seasons with the Ohio State Buckeyes (NCAA). Flint received this draft pick from Kalamazoo as a result of the Tom Ditzer trade to Flint in return for Kevin Kerr.

In the third round, Flint selected goaltender Jake Pruss from Eastern Michigan University and Lapeer County resident Jim Slater, defenseman from Michigan State University. In the fourth round of the draft, the Generals selected goaltender Matt Migliaccio from Michigan State University.

In the fifth round, Flint selected right wing, Adam Nightingale, whom has spent his collegiate career at Lake Superior State and now, Michigan State University. The sixth round selection was left wing, Rafal Martynowski, whom has spent the last two season with the Ontario League’s Sudbury Wolves.
