FLORENCE, SC – The Pee Dee Pride announced today that former heavyweight champion of the world James “Bonecrusher” Smith will be in attendance at this Saturday’s game against the South Carolina Stingrays. Smith, a native of Magnolia, N.C., won the World Boxing Association (WBA) title in 1986 by defeating Tim Witherspoon, then lost it to Mike Tyson the following year. His last fight was a loss to Larry Holmes on June 18, 1999 in Fayetteville, N.C. Smith completed his professional career with a record of 44-17-1. Thirty-two of his 44 career wins were by knockout.
