Dayton Bulldogs News Release

Dayton, Ohio—The Dayton Warbirds continue to fill their roster by adding two more stellar athletes in former Ohio State wide out Maurice Lee and University of St. Francis (IL) running back Greg Lathan. The Warbirds are an expansion team in the United Indoor Football Association (UIF) that will begin play in March.

Maurice Lee, 5’10” 180 pounds, is a former wide receiver and defensive back for the Buckeyes, playing from 1999 through the 2002 season. Lee was part of the Ohio State National Championship team in 2002. “Maurice brings blazing speed to an already fast team,” said Head Coach Matt King. “Lee is the type of player that can step in and make an impact immediately,” he added.

Greg Lathan is a 5’10” 205 pound running back with some previous indoor experience. He played for the Tri-City Diesel in Kearney, Nebraska, of the NIFL leading the team in rushing and amassing an additional 60 catches for 760 yards and 17 touchdowns. Lathan, who played at Argo High School in Dolton, IL, was the first running back to rush for over 1000 yards over the last 20 years. He was also the team MVP, an All-conference selection and Honorable Mention All-State.

“Having Lathan to go along with Pepe Pearson gives us a variety of options,” King said with a grin. “The speed on this team is incredible and I am very anxious to get these guys on the field,” King added.

The Warbirds kick off their inaugural season March 17th at the Nutter Center vs. Peoria. Season tickets are on sale now, but are going fast. For more information on the Warbirds, please visit their website at www.daytonwarbirds.com or call the office at (937) 427-9737.
