Long signs contract with 49ers

Omaha, Nebraska – Omaha Beef Football is pleased to announce that kicker Chace Long has signed a futures contract with the San Francisco 49ers. His placement on the roster will be made official at the end of the National Football League season.

“Chace has certainly paid his dues and it is great to see him finally get his opportunity in the NFL,” said General Manager and Head Coach Robert Fuller. “He has the drive, determination, work ethic and obviously the skills to have a rewarding career in the NFL. The entire Beef family wishes him the best of luck. Hopefully we will have a few more Omaha Beef players follow Chace in 2005.”

One of the most impressive kickers in professional indoor football history, Long hails from Wahoo, Nebraska. He was an all-state award winner in each of his four years playing for the Warriors (1993 – 1996). Long was also a 4-year member of the Big 12 Commissioners Academic Honor Roll wile playing for and attending the University of Nebraska – Lincoln (1997 – 2000). He holds the record for the longest kick in indoor football history with a 60-yard field goal while with the Lincoln Capitols in a game verses Omaha Beef Football on April 20, 2002. Long has played for the Beef the past two seasons (2003 – 2004).

Long is the second Beef player to advance to the ranks of the NFL. The Cleveland Browns acquired former standout wide receiver Chad Mustard as a Free Agent in December 2002. After time spent with the Rhein Fire during the 2003 NFL-EL season he played in World Bowl XI and made his NFL debut on October 12, 2003.
