Jordan Leasure Becomes First New Appalachian League Alum to Reach Major Leagues

March 28, 2024 - The Chicago White Sox announced Wednesday that right-handed reliever Jordan Leasure made the team's Opening Day roster. Leasure pitched for the Elizabethton River Riders in 2021 and is the first Appalachian League player to reach the Major Leagues since the league rebranded as a summer collegiate league in '21. Leasure, 25, secured a spot on Chicago's Opening Day roster after posting a 1.93 ERA in 10 relief appearances during Spring Training. Elizabethton River Riders Announce Schedule for 2024 Season

November 16, 2023 - ELIZABETHTON, Tenn. - The Elizabethton River Riders announced their 2024 baseball schedule. The River Riders will host their first home game June 7 against the Bristol State Liners. The 2024 Appalachian League season begins June 4 and runs through July 31. The River Riders will celebrate Independence Day at Northeast Community Credit Union Ballpark on Thursday, July 4, playing against the Kingsport Axmen. Elizabethton River Riders Announce Jeremy Owens to Return as Manager for 2024 Season

November 2, 2023 - ELIZABETHTON, Tenn. - The River Riders have announced that Jeremy Owens will return as manager for the 2024 season. Owens has more than 20 years of playing and coaching experience at the professional level, including serving the last two seasons as head coach with Elizabethton. River Riders Drop Series Opener in Burlington to Sock Puppets

July 28, 2023 - BURLINGTON, N.C. - After playing spoiler the previous night to the Otterbots, the Elizabethton River Riders were unable to keep up the momentum on Friday night in a 7-1 loss to the Burlington Sock Puppets. The Sock Puppets started the scoring in the first, when Luke Leto singled home Kenny Mallory, Jr., making it 1-0 in the very early going.
